Hi Everyone! Can you believe how fast this new year is coming in? I can’t believe we are closing the door on the first quarter of the year and welcoming the second in a matter of hours!
With every new year, we see either the revival of past trends or we get to witness the creative and innovative awakenings of the new generations
Let’s take a minute to reflect on a handful of the “What’s Hot of 2023”…so far! Take heed, take inspiration but above all enjoy. perhaps we may be able to draw up some inspiration for your next projects or perhaps allow us to broaden our mindset when it comes to your interior and exterior design.
MONOCHROMATIC PALLETS
As Taylor Swift’s smash hit depicts the British lothario, Harry Styles, The Monochromatic Pallet never goes out of style. In fact, it perpetually circulates depending on the season and the availability of stylish items that can carry the weight of this timeless aesthetic.
We are always happy to see Monochrome heavily featured in people’s lifestyles in 2023. Essentially Monochromatic is essentially the containing or using only one colour, if you really want to get “scientific” about it there are four components to having a monochromatic colour scheme: hue; tone; shade; and tint.
We really do see monochromatic detailing everywhere. Whether you are a conscious fan, an active participant in the trend of 2023, or even if you don’t follow, something we can all agree on and appreciate is, it is stunning visual (and has proven positive psychological) effects on the finished aesthetic not to mention the dramatic element- Add as much or as little drama as you want. Either way, this trend always packs a punch
BOLD COLOURS
As you can see from our New Collection we love natural and neutral tones, especially when we can highlight the natural hues and tones that are organically present in the materials we use. However that being said, those natural hues can work perfectly with bright, bold and jewel-toned pallets or furniture and accent pieces. As you can see we like to incorporate bold colours using statement piece furniture creating a surprisingly stunning mix. such as our Leonor Dining chair
Bold colours are known to have an uplifting and energizing powerful effect on your emotions and can draw attention away from small spaces. They can create a mesmerizing focal point in any room or simply highlight your favourite colour that runs throughout your lifestyle… your personal branding if you will.

ART DECO
The style was invented by the French to depict. wealth, style and sophistication.
A design trend that originated circa the roaring twenties 1920’s late 1930s, characterized by precise and boldly detailed geometric shapes usually accompanied by symmetry and bold colours most notably used in the design of household items and architecture, if you struggle to picture it, take reference from the interior styling during the prohibition era or The Great Gatsby in America, where the design really took off.
It is no wonder as we enter the twenties of our century that this style is making a comeback, we love it and we have chosen to honour it in our more subtly way foregoing the bolder colours and opting for softer tones which we believe add to the elegance and opulence of the era, Check out our new Benedita Sofa
CURVY FURNITURE & DECOR
You may think that curved furniture has been around for a very long time and yes, you are right to remember in the ’90s when egg chairs became the “must-have” item for every teenage girl’s bedroom…Good times!
However, furniture and home decor items have evolved tremendously since then. In 2023 we are seeing a rise in irregularly shaped items that add a contemporary and modern feel to any room. these come in the form of sofas, coffee tables, chairs, mirrors and accessories. at Home and Soul.
At Home and Soul, we and our customers seem to be drawn to curves (who isn’t). like our Salamanca mirror, especially when they are in all the right places.
NATURAL & SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS
Our favourite trend of 2023 as it is so close to our hearts.
Gone are the days were consumers aimlessly wander into a franchise furniture store and buy over-priced, mass-produced, poor-quality furniture and home décor. We are very lucky that people are now educating themselves and choosing to opt to discover natural, sustainable hand-made ethical pieces.
Granted the price tag is slightly higher but nothing compares to knowing that you are supporting small businesses, skilled artisans and craftsmen and that shopping ethically and sustainably gives back to the planet by relying on renewable natural materials that are eco-friendly.
As you are well versed by now, that is entirely what we, HOME AND SOUL abide by.
Discover the beauty and versatility of Seagrass & Rattan, such as our Carina Raffia Pendant Light. Breathe easy knowing your furniture is made from the highest quality and will last generations, a treasure your family can pass down for many years to come.
